  • Cargo Clearance Procedure

    Port Control and HM Customs advise that with immediate effect, requests for off-loading cargo at Rupert’s should be submitted three days in advance for each voyage of the Maria Da Paz arriving at St Helena. Requests are to be made by completing and returning an application form. These can be requested by email via customs.enquiries@sainthelena.gov.sh, and available on the SHG website.

  • Turtle Nesting At Rupert’s Beach

    ENRP’s Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section, and the St Helena National Trust responded after being advised by members of the public that a green turtle attempted to nest on Rupert’s Beach.
    144 eggs were carefully moved to an artificial nest incubation chamber.
    For the next three months, the incubation chamber will be monitored. If a dip in the sand above the nest is noticed, it is a sign that the eggs have begun hatching. From this point, the nest will be monitored daily. If these turtles hatch they will be retrieved from the incubation chamber and released into the ocean.

    ENRP received a batch of 1000 Dekalb-Amberlink breed day old chicks. The sale of chicks will be at the price of £3.00 per chick for all producers. This is in line with the SHG Vision and Strategy to facilitate actions to improve our self-sufficiency in local fresh egg supply for the community and encourage local production so that people have access to sustainable supplies of fresh produce.
