Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages

It is within the remit of the Post & Customer Services Centre to ensure that all Births, Deaths and Marriages are registered.

Registration of Births & Deaths and Associated Fees

Registration of a Father’s NameProcessed upon receipt of a form (obtained from the Post & Customer Services Centre), and authorised by the Registrar or Deputy Registrar.£5.50

Registration of Marriages and Associated Fees

Entering a Notice of MarriageA Notice of Marriage must be posted for 21 days before the Marriage can commence.  To obtain a Notice of Marriage, applications must be made in person to the Registrar or Deputy Registrar.  In addition to the charges for entering a Notice of Marriage, the Registrar will normally charge the applicant for issuing a certificate pursuant to notice of intended marriage.Entering of Notice of Marriage – £10.00   Issuing of a certificate pursuant to Notice of an intended Marriage – £10.00

Religious places of worship solemnised for conducting Marriage Ceremonies are:

  • All Anglican Churches
  • The Roman Catholic Church
  • All Salvation Army Halls
  • The Seventh Day Adventist Church
  • All Baptist Chapels
  • The Apostolic Church

Approved venues for conducting Civil Ceremonies, including same-sex marriages are:

  • The Castle
  • Plantation House
  • Longwood House
  • Approval can be sought from the Registrar for a one-off approval of a venue for solemnisation of Marriages.  However, applications must be made at least 3 months in advance due to process timelines.
