The Directorate currently has three residential services: The Community Care Complex at Ladder Hill, Ebony View in HTH and the Children’s Residential Home. Our residential services are developing and we are seeking to open further residential provision for adults with learning disabilities, at the Barn View site in Longwood.
Community Care Complex
The Community Care Complex (CCC) based at Ladder Hill is a 45 bed social care residential provision for elderly care. The CCC opened in 2008 and replaced ‘The Haven’ care home in Jamestown and the ‘Elderly Care Unit’ at the Hospital.
The CCC provides 24 hour care to adults who can no longer remain living at home due to their care needs as assessed by the Adults Support Team. All residents have their own bedrooms and access to shared lounges and bathrooms. Family and friends can visit at any time, we just ask that you ‘sign in’ on one of our visitors books.
A range of activities are available for our residents, including music, beauty treatments, card games and crafts…live music and dancing are always popular! We welcome volunteers whether you want to commit to a regular activity or a one-off. It takes a special kind of person to be a Carer; if you’re good at listening, are caring and can be empathetic a career in caring could be just the rewarding job you are looking for.
Should you want any further information about the CCC or a career with them then please call them on Tel: 23090.
Ebony View
Ebony View based at the old Half Tree Hollow School opened in 2014; it provides 24 hour person-centred individualised care in a homely environment for up to eight adults with learning and physical disabilities.
The team at Ebony View provide all residents with care and support which will enable them to live as independently as possible with privacy, dignity and with the opportunity to make their own choices. All of the residents have a full calendar of activities in the community and with the Day Care Team who are also based at Ebony View.
We encourage visits and days out with family and friends and all residents now have legally registered deputies where appropriate. The service is developing and we have recently supported a previous resident to transition to supported living in the community.
A career as a Carer at Ebony View can be hugely rewarding for those that are dedicated to helping people to live their best lives.
Should you wish to find out more about Ebony View or Day Care services, be considering volunteering your time or skills or want to pursue a career supporting vulnerable adults then please call Ebony View on Tel: 23343.
Children’s Residential Home
The Children’s Residential Home provides residential care for Looked After Children. Over the coming year we will be developing our service in order to better meet the arising needs of children on St Helena: this includes respite services for children with disabilities and additional needs.
We have a focus on developing our fostering services to ensure that the legislation and policy guidance is implemented to meet the needs of any children who may become looked after in the future.
Should you require any further information about the Children’s Residential Home you can contact the Assistant Director on Tel: 22713.
