    The latest statistical updates have been released for population data on Tuesday 6 June 2023. There were an estimated 4,327 people on the island at the end of April 2023, of which 4,171 were estimated to be resident, and 156 were visiting.

    On Thursday 25 May 2023, HM Prison Service held a ceremony to celebrate long service and good conduct ceremony for members of their staff.
    Four medals for Long Service and Good Conduct were awarded to:
    Deputy Superintendent Linda Fuller, for 30 years of service

  • Diabetes Awareness Week 2023 – Event Information

    7 June 2023

    Here on St Helena, it is estimated 1 in 4 people are taking medication for diabetes and around 400 people are living with prediabetes.
    To raise awareness of how you can reduce your risk of developing diabetes, improve your diabetes control or support a loved one or friend living with diabetes, the Dietitian and Health Promotion team will be bringing a ‘Diabetes pop-up café’ to the medical clinics across the Island.

  • Visa And Mastercard Merchant Services Now Available To St Helena

    6 June 2023

    b=Businesses on St Helena can now apply directly to Ryft Pay to be able to accept Visa and Mastercard payments from customers. The funds from Visa and Mastercard payments can be deposited into a business’ Bank of St Helena (BOSH) account or UK bank account. To express an interest in the services that Ryft Pay offers, and to begin the application process, businesses should contact Ryft Pay directly at support@ryftpay.com.
