Executive Council met today Tuesday 1 March 2016 to discuss three items on the Open Agenda.
The Governor welcomed back Councillor Ward Pearce from attending the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference in Guernsey and also welcomed Councillor Ellick, who is currently deputising for Councillor Lawson Henry.
The first item on the agenda was an application to amend the Development Permission for Phase 1 Development of the Wirebird Hills Resort – to include a golf clubhouse, seven separate clubhouse suite buildings, a lookout interpretation centre and golf maintenance facilities. Executive Council deferred the decision to allow Members to have further detailed discussions with the Chief Planning Officer to clarify a number of points regarding the application and recommendations from the Land Development Control Authority.
For the second item, Executive Council agreed to increase the Minimum Income Standard and approved an amendment to the Social Security Regulations to increase the Income Related Benefit (IRB) and Basic Island Pension (BIP).
With effect from 31 March 2016, the IRB for a single person household will increase from £54.90 to £59.60 per week. The rate for an additional adult within a household will increase from £31.90 to £34.70 per week. The Basic Island Pension will increase from £56.80 to £61.60 per week.
The change for each individual household will be dependent on the specific circumstances of that household. All recipients will be notified by letter prior to 31 March 2016 confirming their new rates.
For the final item, Executive Council agreed that the Aviation (General Amendments) Bill will be presented to the Formal Legislative Council on Friday 18 March 2016.
Under the closed session, Executive Council approved the annual Broadcasting Licence for Saint FM Community Radio Guarantee Limited.
Executive Council also approved the Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2016/17 to be presented at Formal Legislative Council on 18 March 2016.
