The Post and Customer Services Centre is pleased to advise that an airmail service to and from Ascension Island and an airmail service via Ascension Island has now been established.
Mail will be carried on the next flight to Ascension Island, which is scheduled for Saturday, 10 March 2018, and on every monthly scheduled flight thereafter. The Ascension Island Post Office has advised that mail can be airmailed from Ascension Island at least twice per month.
The maximum weight for each postal item for airmail to Ascension Island is two kilograms (2 kg). All mail for Ascension will be charged at the airmail rates.
Arrangements regarding airmail to and via South Africa are still ongoing and the public will be informed when these services have been established.
Due to safety regulations, dangerous goods cannot be carried by the airmail service and will not be accepted by the Post and Customer Services Centre. A list of dangerous goods is posted on the notice board in the passageway on the ground floor of the Post Office building. Alternatively electronic copies can be found on the Publications page of the SHG website at https://www.sainthelena.gov.sh/publications/.
Clarification on potentially dangerous goods can be obtained from the Assistant Customers Services Manager either in person at the Post and Customer Services Centre, via telephone number 22629 or via email: alan.bennett@sainthelena.gov.sh.
