During the EU-OCT Forum held in Brussels on Friday, 23 February 2018, St Helena Government signed the Programming Document for the Territorial Allocation of the 11th European Development Fund (EDF 11).
The document was signed by SHG UK Representative, Mrs Kedell Worboys MBE, on behalf of SHG, and the Commissioner for International Cooperation & Development, Mr Neven Mimica, on behalf of the European Commission.
The allocation for EDF 11 will assist in implementing SHGs Digital Strategy by addressing key connectivity challenges including faster, more reliable internet connection through a fibre optic submarine cable.
This is a significant step in securing these funds. It is anticipated that the signing of the Financing Agreement, which is the final step, will take place within the next two months.
