SHG LAUNCHES 2018 EMPLOYEE OPINION SURVEY

St Helena Government has today, Tuesday 3 April, launched its 2018 Employee Opinion Survey (EOS). The survey will gather employees’ views on a number of issues they feel are important to them. Some of these issues include:

  • Communication
  • Customer Service
  • Leadership
  • Pay
  • Reward and Recognition
  • Training and Development

SHG last held an Employee Opinion Survey in 2015. Whilst a lot has been achieved as a result of the 2015 EOS, including the development of the Prospectus for Change 2016-19 and the establishment of the Employee Representative Committee, it is recognised that more work needs to be done to ensure that SHG is a great place to work and do business with.

Results from the 2018 EOS will help managers to address the issues raised by staff and ensure that SHG becomes an organisation which customers value and which employees are proud to work for.

Chief Secretary, Roy Burke, said:

“This is the second time we have issued an Employee Opinion Survey. Back in 2015, we told staff that the survey was a key step in our journey to create an environment that encourages and celebrates success, an organisation that is seen as a great place to work, that provides us with challenge and recognises achievement.  We took note of what staff told us through the survey and put in place the Prospectus for Change with a number of actions for improvement.  While all actions have not yet been completed, we have made huge progress.

“This survey is specifically tailored to SHG and its people. It gives us all an opportunity to rate many aspects of working in SHG, and make positive suggestions for improvement.  After the survey, we will further develop the Prospectus for Change with staff.  As already promised, we want to turn SHG into a place where people want to work, and are proud to work for.”

The survey is completely anonymous and participants have up until Tuesday, 17 April 2018, to submit their views.

Employees are reminded that completing the Employee Opinion Survey is an excellent opportunity to comment on how they feel about working in SHG as well as getting involved in a process aimed at identifying and addressing those things that make them unhappy at work.
