ROCK STABILITY INSPECTION – UPDATE

Works are continuing on the rocks above Upper Jamestown, following the visit of the Geo-Tech Surveyor, Chad Douglas, in June.

The Rock Guards of the Environment & Natural Resources Directorate have now finalised the drilling and netting phase and will shortly commence the final work phase which is the construction of the buttress.

The Rock Guards, who carry out regular rock stability inspections, expressed concerns about a section of rock in the Upper Jamestown area on 21 June. On 23 June, Geo-Tech Surveyor, Chad Douglas, visited the Island to carry out an inspection of the area. His assessments indicated that there is no imminent risk of a rock fall and an appropriate work programme was put in place to further secure the area.

The public will be kept updated as works continue.
