RIGHT HONOURABLE ANDREW MITCHELL MP TO VISIT

Chairman of the St Helena All Party Parliamentary Group, The Right Honourable, Andrew Mitchell MP, at the invitation of Elected Members, is scheduled to visit St Helena on Saturday, 14 April 2018. Mr Mitchell, who was also the Secretary of State for International Development that approved the Airport Project, will be on-Island for an overnight stay, and will undertake a number of site visits, tours and meetings.

Mr Mitchell has a busy programme and amongst other activities will visit the Comprehensive Development Area (CDA) site at Bottom Woods, HM Prison and the proposed prison sites in Longwood, the General Hospital, the Community Care Centre, Rupert’s Wharf and the Fisheries Complex.

Mr Mitchell will also meet with Her Excellency the Governor, members of the Legislative Council and Senior SHG Officers to discuss key issues and challenges for St Helena. These include economic growth and investment opportunities and the need for capital investment in key infrastructure projects.

In addition, there will be an opportunity for Mr Mitchell to meet representatives from the private sector at a reception which will be hosted by Her Excellency the Governor, Lisa Honan.

On Sunday, 15 April, Mr Mitchell will attend a Press Conference and will be given a tour of the St Helena Airport facilities.
