Locum Senior Veterinary Officer, Joe Hollins, arrived at St Helena on Saturday, 3 March 2018. Joe was the previous Senior Veterinary Officer for St Helena from 2010 to 2016, and is here for seven months providing cover for the Veterinary Service while the substantive Vet, Catherine Man, is on maternity leave.
With the support of the Veterinary team, Joe will be undertaking the usual role of looking after the health and welfare of the animals on the Island, and anything else animal related.
Joe commented:
“After an interesting two years working away in Turkey and Tristan da Cunha, it has been lovely to return to this warm and friendly Island and receive such a welcome. No doubt there are a lot of new and developing issues to get to grips with, and we’ll see what we can achieve in the short time I’m here.”
Head of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Division, Darren Duncan, added:
“We are extremely pleased Joe accepted our offer to provide locum cover on St Helena for the next seven months while Catherine is off-Island on maternity leave. I am sure the community will welcome Joe back to St Helena to lead our Veterinary Service.”
