St Helena Line (SHL) has today, Saturday 15 April 2017, advised that a further technical problem with the RMS’ starboard propeller has been discovered. Technical staff are onboard and are investigating the issue, but at this time they are unable to provide any conclusive diagnosis. Investigations are ongoing, however early indications are that the problem appears to be more serious than initially thought.
It is therefore likely that the RMS St Helena will have to remain in the port of Cape Town over the weekend.
Passenger agents are onboard to assist those passengers who do not wish to remain and will assist making the necessary arrangements for disembarkation.
Passengers have been kept informed of developments and have been offered the opportunity to go ashore until further news is available.
