‘SPEED KILLS’ CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED

St Helena Police launched a speeding campaign ‘Speed Kills’ on Friday, 31 March 2017. The campaign will run for four weeks, ending Friday, 28 April 2017.

Concerns of speeding on St Helena roads were raised at various Beat Surgeries carried out by Police across the Island, with the main areas of concern being Longwood, Sea View, Half Tree Hollow, the Briars and Jamestown. As a result of these concerns, Police will be targeting these hotspots as well as other potential areas where speeding might occur.

Campaign posters have been placed in various establishments and areas around the Island, radio talks have been carried out by Police Officers and the public can expect to see high visibility policing across St Helena.

Police Sergeant, Jane John, said:

“Public service is at the core of all we do. We are here to protect and serve our community. If you would like to meet Police Officers, let’s do it in a pleasant and friendly environment, LET’S NOT MEET BY ACCIDENT.”

Two posters from the Police are attached to this release.
