‘DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER’

ONGOING POLICE CAMPAIGN

St Helena Police are currently running their annual Drink-Drive Campaign – this year called ‘Drive sober or get pulled over’.

The campaign will run until Sunday, 7 January 2018, and drivers and the public can expect a high Police presence. Officers will be conducting speed checks and stopping to check drivers for their driving documents. Should the driver smell of alcohol or if there is any other cause to believe the driver may be over the prescribed limit, the driver will be breath tested in accordance with the law.

Operational and Neighbourhood Police Inspector, Julianne Benjamin, said:

“Since launching the Drink-Drive campaign, a total of five persons have been dealt with by Police in line with our campaign objectives.

“With such low numbers, it suggests that the public are responding well to the initiative Police are taking in keeping the community safe.”

Remember, alcohol remains in your system even after you’ve had a drink the night before.

Drink-driving poses a significant threat to road users. Catch a taxi instead.

Late night taxi providers working with the Police are V2 Taxi Partners, Joshua’s Taxis, Reginald Furniss, Jeffrey Youde, CJ’s Taxi Service, Wayne Crowie’s Taxi and Charles Williams’ Taxi. People should call these services if needed.

THINK BEFORE YOU DRINK.

Check out the poster display at Police Headquarters for more information including taxi contact details.
