COMMONWEALTH DAY 2017

COUNCILLORS AND STUDENTS DEBATE – NOW ONLINE

As part of this year’s Commonwealth Day celebrations on St Helena, Councillors and Prince Andrew School students participated in a debate in the Council Chamber.

Focusing on the peace-building theme, the following motion was debated:

‘That Members of the Commonwealth should make promoting and contributing to peace-building their highest priority’.

Students taking part in the debate were Andrea Midwinter, Hannah Beard, Isaac Greentree, Britney Coleman and Abigail Yon. Student, Duwaine Yon, was unfortunately unable to attend the event but was represented by Mrs Cheryl Bedwell who spoke on his behalf.

Councillors taking part in the debate were Christine Scipio-O’Dean, Brian Isaac, Derek Thomas, Pamela Ward Pearce, Dr Corinda Essex and Cyril George.
