After the recent Amnesty on Marine Distress Flares, a total of 128 expired flares were handed in to the St Helena Sea Rescue Service.
The flares were destroyed in a controlled explosion at Horse Pasture Quarry on Friday 6 May 2016.
SHG’s Environment & Natural Resources Directorate, Sea Rescue Service and Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank the maritime community for their cooperation, and Nigel George from NGCPH for his assistance in disposing of the flares.
