MAN IMPRISONED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE

On Monday 30 May 2016 a 57 year-old man was sentenced by the Magistrates Court to 34 months imprisonment, having pleaded guilty to domestic abuse part-way through his trial for assault.

By supporting and working with the Police, the victim was able to stand up to ongoing domestic abuse and violence. The victim of this crime demonstrated bravery and courage in coming forward and placing her trust in the Police and in doing so obtained justice through the courts.

This sends a clear message to any victim of domestic abuse that you are not alone and do not have to suffer in silence. The Police and Safeguarding teams will always deal with domestic abuse in a confidential and supportive manner and would urge any victim of domestic abuse or any person with concerns about domestic abuse to come forward.
