BYE-ELECTION 2016

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS – WEDNESDAY 24 AUGUST

 The public is reminded that the last day and time for receiving Nominations to elect a Member to fill the vacant seat on Legislative Council is 12 noon on Wednesday, 24 August 2016.  All nominations should be delivered within this time to the Returning Officer, Mrs Gillian Francis, at the Castle, Jamestown.

Gillian said:

 “It is important that we fill this vacant seat on Legislative Council so that we have a full council to represent the electorate’s interest when policy decisions are being made. The electorate is urged to submit their nominations well before the deadline so that checks can be made to ensure that the form is correctly completed.”

 Nomination forms are available from the Assistant Registration Officers in the electoral districts. It can also be found on the SHG Website at the following link: https://www.sainthelena.gov.sh/forms/

If more than one valid nomination is received, a Poll will be taken on Wednesday 7 September 2016.

Only those persons with their name on the Register of Electors, dated 1 July 2016, will be eligible to participate in the Bye-election, with those who are 21 years of age and over being able to stand for election.
