Last night (27 November 2014) Acting Governor Sean Burns and Marina Burns hosted a reception at the Briars to welcome to St Helena the new Attorney General Nicola Moore and her partner Mr Stephen Herron.
Over a hundred guests were invited from across the Island, including Lord Chief Justice Charles Ekins and Lord Bishop Dr Richard Fenwick. Mr Burns spoke at the beginning of the evening, highlighting what an incredibly busy time it is to be on St Helena with the Island moving forward at an increasing pace.
He said:
“Nicola and Stephen – we are delighted to have you here. You will find, as we have, that you will receive a warm and friendly welcome from the community. I look forward to working with you, as I know His Excellency Governor Mark Capes does too.
“The last few months have been particularly busy for the AG’s chambers. As the normal workload has continued to increase there has also been the additional pressure of introducing legislation related to the Airport. I would like to recognise the work that Morag, Aine, Nikita, and Cilla have done to keep the chambers working smoothly while being without substantive Attorney General. Particular thanks go to Morag for stepping into the role of Acting AG during these busy few months.
Nicola, you are joining a good team.”
