Tara Caswell and Roberta Thomas Achieve Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching & Learning

Pilling Primary School Teacher, Tara Caswell, and former Prince Andrew School High Level Teaching Assistant, Roberta Thomas, have both achieved the Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching & Learning with distinction.

This follows the recent success of other teaching staff within the Education Directorate.

Programme Leader for the course and Teacher Training Advisor, Garry Cameron, said:

“I am delighted for both Tara and Roberta for achieving distinctions – very well done!  This is a huge achievement and shows what can be done when you put your mind to it. This will provide encouragement for the next group of colleagues starting the Certificate study next session.”

The award, which is at Level 4 on the Higher Education Qualifications Framework, is a demanding course and requires significant academic knowledge and skills as well as high levels of critical thinking and reflection.

Tara said on her achievement:

“I am feeling really happy and pleased with my results. It was hard work having to do this assignment alongside full-time teaching, however it was well worth it in the end. I would especially like to thank Mr Garry Cameron and Mrs Wendy Benjamin for their support and guidance throughout the course.”

Roberta Thomas (currently in the UK) commented:

“This was an amazing course to be enrolled on. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication and is especially challenging on top of a full time job as a High Level Teaching Assistant.

“When I had confirmation that I achieved a distinction I was over the moon. This was amazing, like music to my ears, and it was then I realised that hard work does pay off. I would like to thank Mr Gary Cameron and the staff at PAS for supporting me along the way.”
