Maintaining Access
Investigations into alternative means of maintaining access to and from the Island continue. All reports that a plane has been sourced to transport passengers from Cape Town are inaccurate.
In the meantime, SHG can confirm the following:
Ocean Observer
The Ocean Observer which is transporting 10 passengers from Cape Town to St Helena is due to arrive between 1pm and 3pm on Friday, 28 April 2017.
The Ocean Observer is diverting to St Helena on her way to Trinidad.
MV Helena
The cargo vessel MV Helena is expected to arrive at St Helena at 7am on Friday, 28 April 2017.
The MV Helena is transporting to St Helena the cargo from RMS Voyage 256. She has onboard 246 tonnes of general cargo, 67 x 20ft containers and 3 x 40ft containers.
Due to limited cargo requirements by Ascension Island, the vessel will not be travelling onward to Ascension.
RMS St Helena
Repair work on the RMS St Helena continues in the dry dock at Simonstown.
It is expected that the RMS St Helena will be ready to leave Simonstown as scheduled on Tuesday, 2 May 2017, subject to satisfactory testing and approvals.
