POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION

INCIDENT AT ST HELENA FISHERIES

The St Helena Police Service are appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident at Rupert’s in which the temperature control of one of the St Helena Fisheries Corporation’s refrigeration units was tampered with.

Detective Inspector, David Honan, said:

“Between the afternoon of Sunday, 12 November, and the morning of Monday, 13 November 2017, the temperature control of a refrigerated unit at the Fish Plant in Rupert’s was altered. This alteration led to an increase in the temperature inside the unit, the result being that the contents can now not be exported. This is a significant economic loss for both the St Helena Fisheries Corporation and the Island as a whole. Fellow Islanders livelihoods have been put at risk by the actions of those responsible.

“If you have any knowledge of who was responsible for this act, then please come forward to the Police and your information will be treated with the strictest confidence.”

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Police on telephone: 22626 or email the Criminal Investigations Department via: cid@sainthelena.gov.sh.
