NEW HEAD OF GOVERNOR’S OFFICE TO ARRIVE IN OCTOBER

Alan RichmondAlan Richmond (pictured) has been appointed as the new Head of the Governor’s Office and will succeed Sean Burns when he leaves in November this year to take up the role of Administrator of Tristan da Cunha.  Alan will arrive in October for a brief handover with Sean.

Alan said of his appointment:

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the Governor’s team as Head of the Governor’s Office and to serve as Governor’s Deputy, in succession to Sean Burns. 

 “This is an exciting and challenging time for St Helena and I look forward to working with the Government and people of this historic Island.

 “We have a daughter, Anneka (29), who lives in Australia and is keen to visit us on St Helena.”

 Alan will be joined by his wife, Iseabal, who is a qualified TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher.  Alan Richmond has enjoyed a wide variety of postings with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office since 1977 – living and working in Africa, North and South America, Asia, South-East Asia and the Pacific.

Governor Lisa Phillips said:

“I look forward to welcoming Alan, Iseabal and Anneka to St Helena.  I know that Alan will do a great job as Head of the Governor’s office and he has valuable experience to bring.  There are exciting times ahead for St Helena and I’m glad that Alan and his family will be able to share them with us. 

“We will be saying a sad goodbye to Sean and Marina and we’ll make sure they are given a great send-off.”
