Whilst the new Sea Rescue Service facility in Rupert’s is being constructed, the service will be temporarily located on Jamestown Wharf. Two new RIBs, supplied as part of the Airport Project, will be stationed at Thompson’s Steps in temporary boat houses and the sea rescue crew will be stationed at the Yacht Club. The temporary boat houses will be erected from Saturday 11 July 2015 at 8am. The public should therefore exercise additional caution when using the Wharf.
The Sea Rescue Service will require access to the Wharf 24hrs a day – so users of the Wharf are reminded to leave vehicles in a manner that does not cause obstruction, particularly towards the end of the Wharf. In general, Wharf users are asked to take extra care whilst the sea rescue boats and the crew are stationed in Jamestown.
In addition, formal sea rescue training will be conducted daily from Monday 13 July to Friday 7 August, and therefore there will be a greater intensity of daily activity during this period.
The public’s co-operation is greatly appreciated and SHG apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by these temporary arrangements.
