“On Monday 24 August 2015, a 55 year old man from Jamestown was charged with a significant number of historical sexual offences relating to offending from the late 1980’s through to the mid 1990’s. The allegations relate to offences committed on St Helena.
“These charges have resulted from protracted investigation both on St Helena and overseas, led by the St Helena Police Service. My team have worked closely with the Attorney General’s Chambers throughout. The person charged is due to appear in Court tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August.
“These charges demonstrate our commitment to bring offenders to justice, irrespective of when offences were committed. I wish to reassure the community that my dedicated team of investigators will work tirelessly to give victims a voice and those victims will be supported throughout the judicial process.
“I urge victims to continue to come forward in confidence and together we can make a difference.”
