EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST IN FISH PROCESSING & STORAGE FACILITY

Following the press release of 7 May 2015 regarding the future of the Rupert’s Cold Storage and Fish Processing plant, a multi-stakeholder working group was established to examine how the processing and storage plant at Rupert’s could continue to support the fishing industry, following the withdrawal of the existing operator, Argos.

SHG is currently exploring options for the continued operation of the facility, with a view to expanding into areas such as the storage of frozen foods and goods – and possibly into secondary processing.

Today, Tuesday 21 July 2015, SHG publishes a call for Expressions of Interest for individuals or organisations, both local and international, to come forward and express an interest in the continued operation and potential future development of the Fish Processing and Storage Facility at Rupert’s.  The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 31 August 2015.

No decision has yet been made as to the exact format or structure of such an operating entity or company – and SHG remains open to exploring options with local and international businesses with relevant experience who may wish to be considered for the future operation of the facility from a private investment perspective.  Consideration will also be given to the establishment of a multi-stakeholder company.

Further updates will follow.
