BUDGET AID MISSION 2015

The Budget  Aid Mission team (BAM) from the Department for International Development (DFID) arrived on St Helena on Saturday 21 November 2015 and are here until Sunday 29 November to lay the foundations for agreeing future budgets by early 2016.

The team members are Deputy Head of the Overseas Territories Department, Kenny Dick, Senior Social Development Advisor, Kirsty Mason, Airport Deputy Project Manager, David Finan, and Resident DFID Representative Morgan Riley.

Since arrival on Saturday, the team has already visited the Airport Site, Barn View, Ebony View, Cape Villa and the Hospital. BAM will also visit NGOs SHAPE, the Human Rights Office and New Horizons.

Today the BAM will meet with Legislative Council and for the remainder of their programme meet with a variety of officials and other stakeholders to discuss economic and budgetary performance to date, forecasts for the rest of the year, strategic plans and financial projections going forward.

The BAM will not produce an agreed budget settlement or an Aide Memoire on-Island but will reach an agreed settlement after further discussions in London.
