A meeting of the Finance Committee took place on Wednesday, 30 June 2021.
The Open Session agenda dealt with confirmation of minutes from the open session meetings held on 26 May and 16June 2021, the matters arising from those meetings and the Budget Execution Report for Period 1 2021/22 – April 2021.
In presenting the Budget Execution Report for Period 1, the Deputy Financial Secretary explained that the format of the report had been updated so that it was more consistent with the format of other financial reports. The rollover budget at the end of April showed an underspend of £132k. There was however, some concern about the centrally managed budget going forward, in particular the budget line resulting to medical evacuation costs, as there had been some 11 medevac flights since the beginning of April 2021.
There was an under collection of revenue in the Customs Duty budget line, due to a delivery of fuel for the Island having been received in March 2021, rather than in April as had been forecast.
The overall position for April was in line with what had been forecast, with a similar pattern expected for May and June 2021.
