On Saturday 20 July 2019, the Airlink crew reported a suspicious substance had been found on-board flight SA8131 inbound to St Helena.
As a result, staff from St Helena Airport Limited (SHAL) along with representatives from St Helena Government Police and Customs proceeded to implement standard protocols for aircraft and passenger search. This caused a delay to the disembarkation and arrivals processes for passengers arriving at St Helena Airport.
The travelling public are reminded that St Helena and Airlink have a zero tolerance policy towards the use or transportation of any banned substances, and that all measures are in place to offer a robust response to actual or potential incidents.
Any inconvenience caused to the travelling public is regretted but the safety of passengers and crew remains paramount.
