NEW TUTOR CONSTABLE JOINS ST HELENA POLICE

Tutor Constable, Kulvinder Gosal, recently arrived at St Helena to take up her new role with the St Helena Police.

Kulvinder has been appointed on a two-year contract and her main duty will require her to support the Police Constables in developing the required skills of a Police Officer by working alongside them to identify individual learning and development needs.

Kulvinder commented:

“I had completed quite a lot of roles within the Police Service in my 32-year career as a Police Officer and enjoyed every aspect of being a Police Officer. When I saw St Helena Police were recruiting a Tutor Constable I was immediately attracted to the role that would allow me to share my experiences and skills. In addition, I was able to carry out my duties on a tropical Island as friendly as St Helena.

“I am really looking forward to a new challenge in a new and developing environment. I hope to transfer my skills and knowledge I gained in the UK to better equip local officers to meet their new challenges. I am looking forward to meeting my Police colleagues and hope to learn much from them too.”

Kulvinder studied to A-level standard and joined the Police Service in West Yorkshire, UK in 1984. Since then, Kulvinder has undertaken posts such as Response Policing, Community Policing, CID, Child Protection & Safeguarding, training and tutoring in both uniform roles and CID roles.

Chief Inspector, Steve Riley, added:

“I am delighted to welcome Kulvinder to the Police Directorate. She has a wealth of experience in Policing across a variety of roles and a proven track record of being able to coach and mentor officers. She has settled in really well and I have no doubt that she will contribute immensely to the development of local officers over the next two years.”
