Detective Constable, Jody Balme, has recently joined the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the St Helena Police Service on a two-year contract from Norfolk Police in the United Kingdom.
Jody brings with her a wealth of experience having spent the past five years as a Detective with a Major Investigation Team investigating and successfully prosecuting murders, manslaughters, fatal industrial incidents, fatal marine and aviation incidents, near fatal assaults, serious sexual offences, and other high profile crimes.
She had also worked in CID investigating assaults and thefts and formed part of a Rape Investigation Unit investigating current and historic sexual offences. She was also a member of the Tactical/Proactive Unit investigating Class A Drug supply and conspiracies.
Jody said:
“I am very happy to be here and to be able to bring with me the benefit of the skills and training that I have. I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to share this training and experience and assist in the continuing development of the St Helena Police Service. I am passionate about being an investigator and hope to encourage others to pursue a career as a Detective within the Police Service.”
Jody has spent time as a uniform front-line Police Officer in both a rural and urban environment within Norfolk. She is trained to an advanced level in interviewing suspects and witnesses and has the added experience of interviewing both vulnerable adults and children.
