BURGLARY AT CAPE VILLA, ST PAUL’S

POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION

This morning, Tuesday 24 April 2018, Police attended a report of a burglary at Cape Villa, Plantation. Sometime during the night of Monday, 23 April, and into the morning of Tuesday, 24 April, a person or persons forced entry into an office on site and stole a sum of money.

Detective Sergeant, David Honan, said:

“I am yet again appealing to the community for their help; three elderly residents have lost a considerable sum of money between them. Cape Villa is their home and as such they should feel safe and secure there. Over the years, these women have contributed much to the community, now I would ask St Helenians to help them.

“Someone knows something about this crime, whether that be an individual going out late, someone having money when days ago they had none, or someone out of place walking through Red Hill or Sapper Way. I would ask you to think and contact the CID office, my email address is: dave.honan@sainthelena.gov.sh and my telephone number is: 22626.”

Director of Safeguarding, Matt Ansell, commented:

“Cape Villa is a sheltered accommodation service for elderly and vulnerable adults. Like everyone in the community of St Helena, these people should have the right to feel safe and secure in their own homes at Cape Villa. This is a crime against vulnerable people not only in terms of money being stolen but also in terms of the impact it has had leaving these elderly people feeling unsafe in their own home. If anyone has any information that can help the Police investigation I would ask that they contact the Police via the above details.”
