MAJOR INCIDENT EXERCISE – WEDNESDAY, 12 APRIL 2017

The Police and Health Directorates will be conducting a major incident exercise this coming Wednesday, 12 April 2017. The exercise will reflect a potential incident that could realistically occur on St Helena in the future.

The purpose of the day is to test the Island’s Emergency Services’ response to the incident and also to examine how the wider resources from across SHG can be mobilised to support the first responders.  The location of the exercise has been carefully chosen so as to avoid any disruption to the community and the Police Directorate would like to thank Basil Read in advance for their help and assistance in this matter.

Acting Chief of Police, Steve Riley, said:

“I have no doubt that we will collectively learn a great deal from the exercise and this learning will assist us in refining our response to future incidents.  Contingency plans have been activated so that normal services can be maintained even whilst the exercise is taking place.”
