The Police service would like to remind the public that the onus of responsibility for renewal of firearms certificates rests with the owner or user. In applying to renew a firearms/shotgun certificate, the public must allow time for proper consideration of their application.
Those with current certificates that expire in February 2016 should submit their applications no later than Sunday 31 January 2016. Application forms are available from Ogborn House, Jamestown or via the Police page on the SHG website at link https://www.sainthelena.gov.sh/police-service/
Applicants are reminded that the form should be returned fully completed and they should carefully read the questions before answering in full. Anyone requiring help or advice can contact Support Officer Garry Henry on telephone number 22626.
Should your current certificate expire before being granted a renewal, you may be committing the serious offence of being in possession of a firearm without a certificate.
