TRAVEL ADVISORY
Ascension Island Government (AIG) has today advised that there is no available hotel accommodation on Ascension from Thursday 1 until Thursday 22 September 2016 as the Obsidian Hotel is fully booked for this three-week period. This is because of a booking by the UK MET office for 30 rooms which leaves none available at the Obsidian during this short period. AIG itself does not provide accommodation for tourists.
This is particularly relevant to the call of the RMS St Helena on Sunday 18 September 2016 – and travellers are reminded that they need to have confirmed accommodation arranged on Ascension Island before they will be issued with an Entry Permit.
AIG prioritises its own limited accommodation options for operational needs, i.e. for people coming to work on the Island.
Ascension Island Government advises travellers to book accommodation well in advance due to the limited options available on-Island.
