HOSPITAL POWER OUTAGE

WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2015

As part of the Hospital Refurbishment, Connect Saint Helena Ltd and Basil Read are upgrading the transformer at the General Hospital in Jamestown. As a result of this upgrade there will be a power outage for the whole day at the Hospital on Wednesday 4 November 2015 – subject to there being no medical emergencies.

The standby generator will be available during this outage but the public is advised that only emergency services will be available at the Hospital.

The following services will not be available:

  • Dental Services
  • Outpatient Clinics in Jamestown
  • Nurse-led Clinic in Longwood
  • Pharmacy Bus at Longwood Clinic
  • Laboratory Services

Also on Wednesday, the Pharmacy in Jamestown will be unable to issue repeat prescriptions – anyone needing repeat prescriptions is encouraged to collect them before Wednesday.

Normal services will resume on Thursday 5 November 2015.

The impact of this outage is quite extensive, but unavoidable. The Health Directorate apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for its understanding.
