ROADS SECTION TO TRIAL ALTERNATIVE PATCHING METHODS

The Environment & Natural Resources Directorate’s Roads Section will soon be conducting trial mixes of alternative patching/surfacing methods for the Island’s road network.

Roads Manager, Deon Robbertse, said:

“The aim of these trials is to find a workable solution to increase the durability of repairs and improve the rideability of the road surface texture.”

The proposed trials will be based on different mixtures of slurry. The outcome of these trials will be used to determine which method achieves the best durability. This will then be used as a basis for future works.

During the trials, the placed slurry mixture must be kept closed to any traffic until it has dried. This means that there is likely to be more frequent road closures in the coming weeks.

The public will be kept informed of where and when these trials will take place and are thanked in advance for their continued support and cooperation.
