Immigration Office

St Helena Island, part of the British Overseas Territory also encompassing Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha, is a remote volcanic outpost in the South Atlantic Ocean, located 15.9650° S, 5.7089° W with a population of just over 4600 people. St Helena is a remote Island in the South Atlantic Ocean which welcomes both long and short-term visitors.

The Immigration service is part of the Safety, Security & Home Affairs Portfolio, the office is situated on the Ground Floor at Customs House, The Wharf, Jamestown, and is open from 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday. On-call arrangements are in place for emergency issues on weekends and evenings. St Helena Immigration welcomes St Helenians as well as both long and short-term visitors.

What we do

  • Border Control at both the Sea port and Air port
  • Passport issuing
  • Nationality matters
  • Provide assistance/support to the Immigration Control Board in respect of Entry Permits, Work Permits etc.
  • Case Work – one officer will manage each case ensuring that users of the service have a single point of contact.
  • General day to day running of the office.

  • Deputy Head of Immigration
  • Two Immigration Officers
  • One Trainee Immigration Officer
  • One Crossed-Trained Customs/Immigration Officer
  • Secretary to the Immigration Control Board/Auxiliary Immigration Officer
