Job Description
Connect Saint Helena Ltd is seeking to employ an Electrical Network Support Worker to provide assistance and support to Linesworkers. The main duties of the post are to clear and maintain undergrowth and trees from the High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution network and to carry out any general work relating to the up keep and maintenance of the Electricity Distribution Network.
This will involve digging holes for pole replacement, new poles and stay anchors; digging and backfilling trenches for underground cables; clearance of undergrowth to enable access to the electrical infrastructure and removal of threatening aloes, trees and bushes from overhead lines; and assisting Linesworkers by carrying tools/hardware to worksites inaccessible for vehicles.
The successful candidate must demonstrate good team working skills and flexibility, have the ability to work on own initiative, and be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively. The role involves working in all types of weather conditions and challenging terrains, therefore candidates should be physically fit and have health and safety awareness.
Experience in felling trees with precision and the use of chainsaws is a requirement.
