Volunteer Opportunities – Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section

The Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section is looking for volunteers to help with various conservation

and research initiatives scheduled for later this year and extending into 2027.



Endemic Species Research Project:

The Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section is set to start a project collecting samples of four endemic

fish species around the island. The section is looking for skilled SCUBA divers to collect samples using

hand lances and hand nets. The Section is also looking for individuals to help with sampling in the Marine

Centre laboratory. Training will be provided with researchers in August. Please reach out for further details

Five-Year Dive Survey Programme:

The Marine and Fisheries Conservation Section is set to conduct its five-year marine survey program on

both the windward and leeward sides of the island in October 2026 and April 2027. The Section is looking

for confident SCUBA divers, who can dive in various conditions, have demonstrable experience diving on

the windward side of the island, and feel comfortable working from boats while spending extended time

at sea, ideally without suffering from seasickness, we encourage you to contact us for additional
