The Environment, Natural Resources & Planning Portfolio (ENRP) brings together the following functions:

  • Agriculture
  • Biosecurity
  • Environmental Management and Protection
  • Environmental Risk Management (including Waste Management, Climate Change, Pollution Control, and Water and Energy Policy)
  • Forestry
  • Land Planning and Building Control
  • Marine Enforcement (including Fisheries Licensing)
  • Marine and Fisheries Conservation
  • Terrestrial Conservation

These work programmes and services support the Government’s Vision and Strategy for St Helena’s sustainable development, funded through its recurrent budget alongside environmental donor grants.

A workforce of over 80 staff is employed to deliver the portfolio’s responsibilities, and are based at three locations as follows:
