Last month it was confirmed that the contractor would be undertaking works to complete the remaining elements of the Side Path Road construction contract. These works are now focused on drainage below the Brow, and are progressing in the vicinity of Seales Corner Road, Harris Flats, Parish Block and the Run.
Seales Corner Road is now re-opened, but there will need to be a further closure later this month to enable final completion of the works. An announcement will be made about this in due course.
The focus of the works have now moved to the Run. In order to construct the connection from Seales Corner Road to the Run, it is necessary to close the Run to all pedestrians between Harris Flats and Connect’s offices for approximately two weeks.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Appropriate warning signage will be in place throughout the closure.
Radio announcements will continue to be made to update the public on progress. This will include the re-opening of the Run and the timing of the planned work between Harris Flats and Parish Block.
For further information on the site works please contact the EDIP site supervisor, Mr Chris Williams, on 67424.

The public are advised that from today, Monday 6 March, to Friday, 10 March 2023, activities may be underway at Horse Point Landfill Site (HPLS) to cull feral pigeons. If so, this will only be taking place in the mornings, and will usually end by 9.30am.
Bi-annually feral pigeon numbers are monitored at HPLS and reported on by the Environmental Management Division. This takes place in support of the St Helena Airport Limited (SHAL) Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, which includes mitigating against bird-strike risk to aircraft.
Feral pigeons congregate to feed on the organic content of waste within the netted domestic waste cell. If culling is necessary to reduce their numbers, this is undertaken around the netted cell by an experienced person, appropriately licensed by the Environment, Natural Resources & Planning Portfolio, using an air rifle.
Signage will be in place near the domestic waste cells area as per the below image:

The public are reminded that the domestic waste cells area is restricted to authorised persons only, as permanently signposted within the site.

The following is a Public Announcement from the Royal Saint Helena Police:
The public are advised that a temporary one way system will be in place on Friday 3 March, from 11am to 5pm.
The one way system will be in place in the direction of Gordons Post to Hutts Gate, along Tomb Road. Traffic wishing to travel in the opposite direction will be diverted from Hutts Gate to Gordons Post via The Dungeon, as per the map below:

The one way system will be clearly signposted and will be removed as soon as no longer required.
The one way system has been put in place in order to more safely manage traffic and ease congestion, given the anticipated increase in vehicle volumes due to the visit of the Costa Deliziosa cruise ship. This is the same process as has been put in place in previous years, and for the last cruise ship visit, and is likely to also be a feature during future cruise ship visits.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their understanding in this matter.

Following request from the public, the Health Services Directorate will be trialing new visiting hours for the General Hospital. These will be in effect from Monday, 27 February 2023.
The new visiting hours will be:
11am – 12 noon
2pm – 5pm
6.30pm – 8pm
The new visiting hours are intended to provide more flexibility to visitors by providing more options for those attending hospital to visit family and friends. This recognises that people have different demands on their times, whether that be work, family or caring commitments. By providing a wider range of visiting times there will be more options for visitors to attend the Hospital throughout the day.
