Head of the Governor’s Office, Sean Burns, was this morning (Monday 1 August 2016) sworn in as Acting Governor of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.
Mr Burns took the prescribed Oaths of Office in the presence of the Acting Sheriff, Mrs Patsy Flagg MBE JP and witnesses, in the Governor’s Office at the Castle (photo attached). Mr Burns’ appointment is immediately effective until Governor Lisa Phillips arrives on Ascension Island on Thursday 25 August 2016. Thereafter Mr Burns will become Governor’s Deputy until the Governor returns to St Helena.
HE Governor Lisa Phillips departed the Island yesterday, Sunday 31 July 2016, for a short period of business and leave in the UK.
