GOVERNOR RAISES FLAGS AT MANTIS ST HELENA

Governor Lisa Phillips today, Friday 13 October 2017, raised the Union and St Helena Flags at the Mantis St Helena Hotel on Main Street, Jamestown, in the presence of officials and staff from Government, Mantis St Helena and AGMAC Construction Group.

Development Director for Mantis St Helena, Graham Vass, said:

“Today saw the unfurling of the Union and St Helena Flags. We believe this is a very symbolic and momentous moment for the history of the hotel and felt it had to have the respect and honour that was due, so we asked the Governor to come and do it for us.”

Governor Lisa said:

“It was an honour to be asked to raise the Union Flag and the St Helena Flag above the new Mantis St Helena Hotel. Main Street, with the flags flying, is such a spectacular sight. St Helenians should be very proud of the transformation that has taken place to ‘1, 2 and 3 Main Street’. The decision by St Helena Government to restore this building and convert it into a hotel, with the imagination and assistance of Mantis, has certainly paid off.”
