The Land Planning and Building Control Division provides a statutory function in support of the Island’s land planning and building control requirements. The Land Planning and Development Control Ordinance and the Building Control Ordinance directs the work of the Division.
The Division exercises control over the Land Development Control Plan as its planning policy in accordance with the Land Planning and Development Control Ordinance, and undertakes the following activities:
- Processing development applications in accordance with the Land Planning and Development Control Ordinance and the Land Development Control Plan
- Providing a building control service in accordance with the Building Control Ordinance and Building Regulations 2019
- Enforcing Building Regulations under the Building Control Ordinance
- Providing guidance and advice on land planning matters.
In the event that more than one person has identified or is interested in the same piece of land then applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis. Alternatively, land advertised by SHG will follow a tender process. The tender process will involve an applicant submitting their bid for the lease or purchase of the land with reasons as to how they are justifying their offer.
Application forms are available from the ENRD Office at Essex House or alternatively you can download here.
