The Environment, Natural Resources & Planning Portfolio (ENRP) brings together functions including agriculture, forestry, terrestrial conservation, marine and fisheries conservation, fisheries licensing, marine enforcement, biosecurity, environmental risk management (including waste management, climate change, pollution control, and water and energy policy), environmental management and protection and land planning and building control.
These Sections provide a range of work programmes and services which are designed to support the Government’s Vision and Strategy for the Island’s sustainable development.
The Portfolio’s work programmes and services are funded through the Government’s recurrent budget and through donor funding, largely to support environmental projects.
A workforce of 83 staff is employed to deliver the Portfolio’s responsibilities, and are based at three locations as follows:
- The Marine and Fisheries Conservation and Marine Enforcement Sections from the Marine Centre at the Wharf in Jamestown.
- The Land Planning and Building Control Section from Essex House in Jamestown.
- All other Sections operate from Scotland in St Pauls.
