The Financial Services and Company Registry Development’s role is to:
- Identify projects that can help make St Helena wealthier.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies so you can help develop new laws, manage large projects, and work with businesses and experts around the world.
- Explore traditional and emerging sectors like: banking, insurance, investment management, electronic payments, NFTs, block chain technologies and cryptocurrency.
The desired benefits are:
- Modernising the Bank, to ensure it remains a viable business in a new regulatory environment and banking market over the next 5 years
- Developing a company registry, to achieve revenues of up to 10 million over the course of the next 5 years
- Achieving compliance with international standards for countering tax avoidance, anti-money Laundering, and combatting the financing of terrorism, to ensure the above activities do not “grey” or “blacklist” St Helena in the next 5 years and in the future.
