The core website at sainthelena.gov.sh has been developed to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. We are committed to ensuring that our online services are accessible to as many people as possible.

Compliance Status

Our website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard. This means some parts of our website do not fully meet accessibility requirements. These areas are outlined below.

Non-Accessible Content

We are aware that many of the documents published on this site may not meet current accessibility requirements.

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents are not accessible to screen readers or assistive technologies.
This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2.

Some documents are essential for delivering services (e.g., service guides or forms). Documents published before 23 September 2018 that are not essential are exempt from these requirements. We are actively working to improve the function of older documents and to ensure that any new PDFs or Word documents will meet accessibility standards

If you experience difficulty accessing information contained in a PDF, please contact us and we will offer the information in an alternative format where possible.

This website contains links to third-party content. We do not have control over and cannot accept responsibility for the accessibility of external sites or content.

What We Are Doing to Improve

We are committed to continuous improvement and regularly take steps to make our website more accessible:

  • Replacing older PDFs and Word documents with accessible web pages or online forms
  • Ongoing monitoring and testing of accessibility
  • Periodic content reviews to ensure information is clear and up to date
  • Working closely with suppliers to address third-party accessibility issues

If you have any questions or would like to report an accessibility issue, please email communications@sthelena.gov.sh.
