The St Helena General Hospital has recently received two new operating tables (photos attached) from the Lund University Hospital in Sweden, sourced by the Medico Technical Engineer, Jorgen Larsson from the Swedish Hospital where our Senior Medical Officer, Dr Attila Frigyesi hails from.

The tables are manufactured by Maquet (a multi-national German company which focuses on equipment for surgical workplaces) and are of very high quality, costing around £20,000 each.

Director of Health and Social Services, David Jenkins commented:

We are in the process of procuring an array of medical equipment, including better diagnostic equipment, which will stand the test of time and will allow for higher standards of medical provision on St Helena.  These operating tables are of the best quality and will help to provide our patients with better and safer care.  We are extremely grateful for yet another significant and generous contribution from Lund University Hospital, which will be put to good use immediately.”
