Comprehensive Development Area at Bunkers Hill given go ahead

Executive Council has agreed to transfer Crown Estate land at Bunkers Hill to Nigel George Construction & Plant Hire for the development of approximately 146 serviced plots to be made available for sale to Resident First Time Buyers, Residents and Residents and/or Investors, subject to planning permission being granted.

The land at Bunkers Hill which totals approximately 50 acres is earmarked in the Land Development Control Plan as a Comprehensive Development Area (CDA).

There are a number of positives arising from the transfer of this land to the private sector including:

  • Providing an opportunity to support affordable housing
  • Promoting economic development
  • Making housing plots available to local residents and investors
  • Providing much needed social housing

Developing the area will also stimulate the availability of residential development and support first time house builders.

Council acknowledged that this was a really good initiative from a local developer which should drive the economy and construction sector on the Island forward.

Members also encourage other entities to bring forward ideas for development.
